Terms of Service

Last updated: October 28, 2026

These terms govern your use of siteMargin, a job-costing tool for construction contractors, builders and homeowners in the United States, at sitemargin.net and app.sitemargin.net. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.

siteMargin is operated by Leon Mayo, a sole trader trading as siteMargin, based in Cape Town, South Africa ("siteMargin", "we", "us"). You can reach us at support@sitemargin.net.

1. The service

siteMargin helps you track estimates and cost codes, actual spend, progress against spend, change orders, pay applications, retainage, punch lists and related records. It is a tool to support your own cost-control decisions. It does not replace professional estimating, accounting, tax or legal advice, and we don't guarantee that using it will prevent cost overruns.

siteMargin is under active development. Features, pricing and availability may change as the product develops, and you may run into bugs or incomplete functionality. We'll tell you about significant changes.

2. Accounts and access

You sign in with your email address and a password, or with a one-time link or code sent to your email. Keep your password and your email account secure, because anyone with access to either can get into your siteMargin account. You're responsible for activity under your account, including activity by team members you invite. You must be at least 18 and using siteMargin for business or for your own building project.

3. Plans, billing and payment

New accounts get a 30-day free trial with no card required. After the trial you can keep one job open on the Free plan or choose a paid plan. Current plans and prices are on our pricing page. Contractor, Contractor+ and Company are billed monthly in advance; Homeowner and storage upgrades are one-time payments. Prices are in U.S. dollars and exclude any sales tax, which is added at checkout where it applies.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. When you buy a plan, you also agree to Paddle's buyer terms. We never see or store your card details.

You can cancel a monthly plan at any time from Plans & Storage in the app. Cancelling stops the next charge straight away, and the plan stays open until the end of the month you've paid for. If you move to a different monthly plan, Paddle charges or credits the difference for the rest of that month. Refunds are covered by our refund policy. If we change a price, we'll tell you before it applies to your next billing period.

4. Your data

The jobs, figures, files and other data you put into siteMargin remain yours. We process them only to provide the service, as described in our Privacy Policy. If you connect QuickBooks Online, siteMargin reads your paid bills and expenses to fill in job costs; it does not write to your QuickBooks company. You're responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for keeping your own copies of anything critical.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use siteMargin for anything unlawful or fraudulent
  • Try to access another user's account or data without authorization
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service, including through excessive automated requests
  • Reverse engineer or try to extract the source code, except where the law allows it
  • Resell or share access to the service outside your own team

6. Availability and warranty

We aim to keep siteMargin available and reliable, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, siteMargin and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, arising from your use of the service, including business decisions made on the basis of data in the tool. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim. Some states don't allow these limitations, so they may not all apply to you.

8. Termination

You can stop using siteMargin and delete your account at any time, from Plans & Storage in the app or at sitemargin.net/delete-account. We may suspend or end access if these terms are breached, or if we discontinue the service; where reasonably possible we'll give notice first.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. We'll change the "Last updated" date above when we do, and tell you by email about material changes. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, where siteMargin is operated, without regard to conflict of law rules. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the consumer protection laws of your own state that can't be waived by contract.
