siteMargin ("we", "us", "our") is a job-costing tool for construction contractors, builders and homeowners in the United States, operated by Leon Mayo, a sole trader trading as siteMargin, based in Cape Town, South Africa. Questions about your information go to support@sitemargin.net. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
Account information. Your email address and, optionally, your company name. If you use a password, our sign-in provider stores it only as a one-way hash; we never see it.
Job data you enter. Estimates, line items, cost codes, change orders, pay apps, subcontractor names and contact details, notes, dates, photos and ratings. This data belongs to you; we process it only to provide the service.
Files you upload. Receipts, invoices, drawings and other documents you attach, stored so you can get them back later.
Accounting data, if you connect it. If you connect QuickBooks Online, we read paid bills and expenses (supplier, amount, date, description and job) to fill in job costs. We store the connection securely and you can disconnect it at any time.
Payment information. Payments are handled by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record. Paddle collects your payment details and billing address under its own privacy policy. We receive only what we need to run your account: your plan, what was charged, and when. We never see your card number.
To provide and operate siteMargin, verify your identity when you sign in, manage your plan, send you account emails (sign-in links, receipts, reminders you can switch off), keep the service secure, and improve the product based on how it's used.
We use a small number of service providers, each for one purpose:
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We keep your account and job data while your account is active. You can delete your account yourself at any time, from Plans & Storage in the app or at sitemargin.net/delete-account. Deletion removes every job, figure, photo and file straight away and can't be undone. Payment records are kept in anonymized form for as long as tax rules require; they no longer carry your name or email address.

If you live in California or another state with a consumer privacy law, these are also your rights under that law, and we won't treat you differently for using them. Email us at the address below; we'll confirm your identity from your account email and reply within 45 days. You can use an authorized agent to make a request for you.
We use encrypted connections and database-level access controls that restrict each account to its own data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information, we'll tell you as the law requires.
siteMargin doesn't use advertising cookies. We may use privacy-friendly analytics to see which pages people find useful, with advertising features switched off and IP addresses anonymized. Your job and cost data is never sent to analytics. You can block analytics with any standard browser privacy setting without affecting how siteMargin works.
siteMargin is a business tool for adults. It isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
siteMargin is operated from South Africa. Your account and job data are stored with our providers in the United States.
We'll change the "Last updated" date above when we update this policy, and tell you by email about material changes.
